What is an Unintentional Housewife?
Some women are born housewives, some achieve housewifery, and some have housewifery thrust upon them…
My name is Melissa. I never had dreams of becoming a stay at home mom. I never thought I would find fulfillment in taking care of my husband and home. I honestly used to imagine that being a housewife was completely boring. Then I found myself unemployed, and I was surprised to find that I kinda like this housewife thing.
Of course, it adds a bit of interest when your home is a 1925 Craftsman and your husband is a ballet teaching mechanic barista with an addiction to nonfiction television. Even so, I think it would be boring to just keep house, which is why you’ll find experiments in DIY home improvement, my Flatbread Project, and my forays into making commonly purchased items From Scratch. You’ll also find some insight into the joys of frugal living and my weekly budget, menu, and recipes. And let’s be honest, sometimes I’ll just rant.

Thank you so much! I’m glad you found me. I’m now what I decided is “almost well” – I just need to get rid of the rest of this cough, and get my usual energy back. It’s frustrating to get winded after barely doing anything!

I apparently wasn’t speaking to my robot that day. Or I was ignoring its answers because it also doesn’t like the word “housewifery”. Stupid robot. I guess they’re not taking over quite yet, since it took a human to notice the misspelling. Thanks for the heads-up and the link!
