How did I not know about this before? I have to thank my facebook friends for linking to My Drunk Kitchen (many times). I finally gave in and watched an episode. And couldn’t stop laughing.
WARNING: NSFW!
I think that it’s smart to start with Episode 1: Butter Yo Shit. For several reasons:
- Who doesn’t love butter?
- It’s important to have ingredients.
- Drunk cooking. Haven’t we all done some of that?
As of this post, there are seven episodes of My Drunk Kitchen, plus a few more videos that are teasers and (apparently) an advice show. I’ll admit that I’ve only watched the seven actual episodes.
If you (like me) enjoy an adult beverage while cooking (see this post for details), you might find that you have something in common with Hannah Hart. You might think, “now why is it that I’m not brave enough to put my drunken cooking escapades on YouTube?” You then might think that it’s because you’re in your mid-thirties instead of your (guessing here) early twenties. You might be right.
For the record: Harto reminds me of me. Except that I’m old and married and not on video. But the drinking and cooking? Totally me. Also, she tends to remind me of other folks. For example, in Episode 6: Brunch?, I thought that Carrie and Cat and Cute Name and I should probably check out that mimosa recipe, since it seems pretty perfect. And then I thought of my brother-in-law Chris when she mentioned that “brunch” is only a good concept if it’s in addition to breakfast and lunch, rather than a replacement for both meals. Breakfast one and two, right Chris?
Although I’ve never done this before, and although I don’t really know what it means, I’ve subscribed to the My Drunk Kitchen YouTube channel. I think it must mean that I get videos often, right? I’m also considering which of the awesome t-shirts I should order. All of them, you say? Well… I tend to wear most of my t-shirts at ballet, and I’m not sure all of them are quite… appropriate… for exposure to impressionable children.
At least not until they’re twenty-one.

Well it was a little challenging to hear all of it over my husband’s laughter but I thought it was pretty darn funny. . . and charming.
